Dear Friends -
I am writing today to share the news that SSR will be closing its doors in the coming weeks. It has been a great few years and I am proud/honored to have played a role in helping a talented and kindhearted group of independent local artists realize their visions and release their music to vinyl. I’ve appreciated so much and enjoyed the ride of owning/operating an independent record label in the modern age. It is time for me to move on to a new chapter in my life.
To everyone that bought a record, downloaded music, hosted an event, attended a show, booked a band, wrote an article, reviewed an album, designed a poster, liked a post, shared music with a friend, and on and on - THANK YOU - labels are challenging entities in a continuously evolving market, but you all made it worthwhile with your enthusiasm and support. And to the artists I’ve worked with: my unwavering belief in your hard work, passion, and extraordinary abilities has always been the foundation of my efforts. SSR was never a profitable venture, but rather simply an opportunity to use my skills, connections, and resources to help those I believed in, as big or small that difference truly was.
In hopes of eliminating some of the remaining debt and deplete remaining stock, all records will go on an extreme sale for the coming weeks. I hope you’ll consider buying a few records from the SSR webstore (www.sectionsignrecords.com/vinyl) to help me out before the websites are deactivated in early July. Inventory will also be distributed to the artists for them to have and sell, free of any stipulation.
Again, I can’t express enough just how thankful I am. The community we have here in Vermont is a truly unique and remarkable force. I have always been amazed at the sheer power, potency, and camaraderie it exhibits. I’m glad to have been a part of it (in many roles) for the past decade.
With love, admiration, and respect,
Britt / SSR
